Are You Really Saved?
Ephesians 2:8-9
[8] For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith--and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God--
[9] not by works, so that no one can boast.
John 6:44
[44] "No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him, and I will raise him up at the last day.
So, in light of these two scriptures how can you hold to a view that YOU chose to follow Christ?
That YOU decided to believe in Jesus?
That YOU got saved because you said a specific prayer?
That YOU reasoned it out and decided it was true?
It clearly says that no one gets saved by works, will, or effort. It says it is by grace alone. God's mercy, not because anyone did anything.
Ephesians 1:4-14
[4] For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love
[5] he predestined us to be adopted as his sons through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will--
[6] to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves.
[7] In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God's grace
[8] that he lavished on us with all wisdom and understanding.
[9] And he made known to us the mystery of his will according to his good pleasure, which he purposed in Christ,
[10] to be put into effect when the times will have reached their fulfillment--to bring all things in heaven and on earth together under one head, even Christ.
[11] In him we were also chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will,
[12] in order that we, who were the first to hope in Christ, might be for the praise of his glory.
[13] And you also were included in Christ when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation. Having believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit,
[14] who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God's possession--to the praise of his glory.
It states clearly here in Ephesians that the choice God made to save those He gives grace to, happened long before we were born. Long before any decision of any man. Long before anyone said a "sinners' prayer".
I have a grave concern in the light of these passages! So many who claim to be "of Christ" truly believe they got saved by reason, prayer, choice, or action...NOT by grace alone.
So, my question, an eternal one, is are you really saved, or do you think you did something to get it?
"Not by works...by grace."
Do not "meh" this one.
If you do, you will stand in the line of those judged by works...no one just written in that book will move on.
That is also clearly written. It WILL happen whether you like it or not.
