Becoming Like God

The key to power isn't dominance, control, effort, or discipline.

The key to power is in submission, reliance, and repentance.

It comes from turning away from ascending, to letting go in trust and being raised up by power.

James 4:7-10

[7] Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

[8] Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded.

[9] Grieve, mourn and wail. Change your laughter to mourning and your joy to gloom.

[10] Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.

Lift you where?

John 14:6-10

[6] Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

[7] If you really knew me, you would know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him."

[8] Philip said, "Lord, show us the Father and that will be enough for us."

[9] Jesus answered: "Don't you know me, Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, `Show us the Father'?

[10] Don't you believe that I am in the Father, and that the Father is in me? The words I say to you are not just my own. Rather, it is the Father, living in me, who is doing his work.

Doing HIS work.

Luke 12:31-32

[31] But seek his kingdom, and these things will be given to you as well.

[32] "Do not be afraid, little flock, for your Father has been pleased to give you the kingdom.

Jesus is the way to reach the Father, who is THE POWER. He is the Author. He is the highest point, the perfect place. Jesus is the gate. He is our Einstein-Rosen Bridge.

Access is by faith. Faith is knowing Him, seeing Him, with eyes that see and ears that hear. Trust, because we know He is trustworthy.

When we see Jesus, as HE IS, as The Father, we submit, trust, let go, and watching Him become Lord in us, a revelation happens. Slowly, but definitively, we realize all we do and are, is Him working. Him doing.

We see Jesus as the Father, and us as extensions. Not hands and feet, but much more.

John 17

[1] After Jesus said this, he looked toward heaven and prayed: "Father, the time has come. Glorify your Son, that your Son may glorify you.

[2] For you granted him authority over all people that he might give eternal life to all those you have given him.

[3] Now this is eternal life: that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.

[4] I have brought you glory on earth by completing the work you gave me to do.

[5] And now, Father, glorify me in your presence with the glory I had with you before the world began.

[6] "I have revealed you to those whom you gave me out of the world. They were yours; you gave them to me and they have obeyed your word.

[7] Now they know that everything you have given me comes from you.

[8] For I gave them the words you gave me and they accepted them. They knew with certainty that I came from you, and they believed that you sent me.

[9] I pray for them. I am not praying for the world, but for those you have given me, for they are yours.

[10] All I have is yours, and all you have is mine. And glory has come to me through them.

[11] I will remain in the world no longer, but they are still in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father, protect them by the power of your name--the name you gave me--so that they may be one as we are one.

[12] While I was with them, I protected them and kept them safe by that name you gave me. None has been lost except the one doomed to destruction so that Scripture would be fulfilled.

[13] "I am coming to you now, but I say these things while I am still in the world, so that they may have the full measure of my joy within them.

[14] I have given them your word and the world has hated them, for they are not of the world any more than I am of the world.

[15] My prayer is not that you take them out of the world but that you protect them from the evil one.

[16] They are not of the world, even as I am not of it.

[17] Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth.

[18] As you sent me into the world, I have sent them into the world.

[19] For them I sanctify myself, that they too may be truly sanctified.

[20] "My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message,

[21] that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me.

[22] I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one:

[23] I in them and you in me. May they be brought to complete unity to let the world know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me.

[24] "Father, I want those you have given me to be with me where I am, and to see my glory, the glory you have given me because you loved me before the creation of the world.

[25] "Righteous Father, though the world does not know you, I know you, and they know that you have sent me.

[26] I have made you known to them, and will continue to make you known in order that the love you have for me may be in them and that I myself may be in them."

Becoming One

This is the goal.

Becoming one with The Power, The Source, The Life...The Father.

Self is the enemy.

Satan doesn't want your worship. He wants man to worship himself. Every action, thought, and feeling to ascend and become like God. The lie.

Yet The Father, being in complete control, set this challenge up.

He does say how to defeat it. By repentance, turning from control to trust.

Trust Jesus, He points to The Father through Himself. He is the gate, the door, the way to go...the Path.

He reveals The Father, His absolute power and control...even over our thoughts, feelings and choices.

Trust

Faith

KNOWING He is good even with evil in this world. SEEING that everything has a purpose, everything is part of the story, part of the plan.

Matthew 6:26

[26] Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?

If you see this, what is there to fear? Sure, He could send you into a path of pain and sorrow...but you would KNOW it has a good purpose because He is good.

Romans 8:28

[28] And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.

This is the real battle. The fight of our lives.

It is fighting against our sin nature to control and surrender to the only One worthy to be called LORD.

This is faith.

This is the path to salvation.

This is how to really gain ultimate power.

Genesis 3:22

22] And the LORD God said, "The man has now become like one of us, knowing good and evil. He must not be allowed to reach out his hand and take also from the tree of life and eat, and live forever."

Becoming like God. It actually wasn't a lie. It was the intent of The Father all this time.

However, really Becoming like God isn't a separation. It is becoming so connected that self is no longer a thing...at all.

Jesus is the tree of life.

Consuming, accepting, assimilating His Word. Can you see it?

Becoming One with Jesus, and The Father IS eternal life.

It all starts with a little gift of trust.

Accept the gift.

Seek the giver.

KNOW He is good.

Trust Him in ALL things.

Submit to His rule

Live in power.

Live forever.

Become like Jesus.

This is how Jesus lived.

Now, you are One with Him and The Father.

Now, you are truly like God.

The way it was planned from the beginning.

Romans 8:31

[31] What, then, shall we say in response to this? If God is for us, who can be against us?

Yeah, now THAT is real power!
