Matthew 13: 24-30
[24] Jesus told them another parable: "The kingdom of heaven is like a man who sowed good seed in his field.
[25] But while everyone was sleeping, his enemy came and sowed weeds among the wheat, and went away.
[26] When the wheat sprouted and formed heads, then the weeds also appeared.
[27] "The owner's servants came to him and said, `Sir, didn't you sow good seed in your field? Where then did the weeds come from?'
[28] "`An enemy did this,' he replied. "The servants asked him, `Do you want us to go and pull them up?'
[29] "`No,' he answered, `because while you are pulling the weeds, you may root up the wheat with them.
[30] Let both grow together until the harvest. At that time I will tell the harvesters: First collect the weeds and tie them in bundles to be burned; then gather the wheat and bring it into my barn.'"
Please understand, this is a really big deal.
Weeds and Wheat look extremely similar.
Salvation is by Grace through Faith, NOT BY WORKS. No effort, including a decision!
Grace is unmerited favor. Favor is putting one over and above another. God does this! He doesn't say why. He doesn't offer any reason for who He picks or why.
Frankly, we don't need to know.
If you believe that you did ANYTHING to receive salvation, you are at risk of showing you never in fact did.
Let me explain how this works...
If you believe or "feel" that you did make a decision to come to Christ, you have something that makes you better than the next guy who didn't.
Even as nice as you can be, you will feel superior. YOU WILL.
If you do, even in the heart and mind, your action will show what you really believe.
"That guy doesn't know the bible as well as I do, I am not inviting him over for dinner..."
"That woman just can't see the truth; I really don't want to be friends with her..."
"That man is in prison for being stupid, I am not going to visit him. He can't really know God..."
Does this sound familiar??
It should.
It exposes the "faith" of those who will hear..."Depart from me, I never knew you!"
God doesn't care how you look.
He alone makes you good...or He doesn't.
This should humble anyone who really believes in Jesus Christ.
