As HE Sees Fit
Imagine a church where they really understand the sovereignty of God and accept that we are only saved by His grace. That even our "believing" is part of that grace. That as scripture says... not by works, so no one can boast.
How would that look?
There would be no "I will ascend" within the church for leadership, power and control. Leadership would be a clear calling and anyone who desires it would be measured only by their desire to put others first... not by who's side they are on, or who they fawn over.
There would be discipleship, real discipleship, the lifting up and training of others to trust God, know scripture, and put others first. It would apply to anyone God delivers to their doorstep.
There would be many visible actions by God. The faith of the congregation would be something that pleases Him. The church would always be watching and waiting for Him to point where, when, and how they should operate... so, He would.
Every new believer would be inundated with kindness, encouragement and testimonies of the members who desire most of all for that new believer to see God at least as well as they do.
There would be only one service, a service that never really ends. There would be no desire or need to divide the congregation. A Sunday morning meeting would just be for the public view, the rest of the week would be used for more concentrated worship, teaching, training, and encouragement. The doors would never close. Parking would be a problem.
A man or woman who fails would not be rejected, unless they refuse God and continue in sin. They would be carefully enveloped by the group to help them trust God in a deeper way.
There would be joy.
There would be hope.
There would be love and kindness.
There would be Jesus, and those who love Him.
That would be the focus for each and every member, including leadership. Pointing to Jesus. Walking toward Him. Trusting He is in charge of each and every soul He brings into their world.
Ah, but men don't trust God, because they still believe they are in control of their choices, their actions, and their lives. They are no different than those in the book of Judges, those who "did as they saw fit". They didn't seek God unless they were under stress.
So, He brought stress.
When Jesus Christ is not your Lord... you are, or someone else is.
Who you trust, is who you follow.
