The Value of an Argument

I have written before about how people are not able to see truth because it is hidden from them by God Himself... but there is another perspective of this truth.

I know it is complicated, but it is biblical, and most cannot seem to accept it, even though it is plainly written about. The perspective is over predestination and choice.

God pre-, meaning before this reality started, determined all that, from our perspective, has happened, is happening, and will happen as we move through this vehicle He created called time.

Our view is extremely limited, not unlike a child in a car watching as His Father drives the vehicle speeding along the countryside.

"Oh, was that a cow?"

Because of our limited view, and a bit of arrogance, we have a hard time believing that there is in fact another view.

"God can only see the future! He doesn't control it!"

Although this is a comfortable view, it is not biblical. The question then, is why is it comfortable to you? Why does it irritate you? Why does it even make you angry?

Those are the questions that might actually enable you to see that this reality is in fact governed completely by a good God.

Of course, biblically, accepting this truth will only happen if HE pre-determined it to be so.

Here is the rub. From our perspective, in the speeding car, we cannot see why there is a cow in the field. We cannot talk to the farmer. We cannot investigate much further. Depending on how fast our Dad is driving, and how long we were glancing in that direction, we may not even be sure if it was in fact a cow!

Limited, by design.

No, the car, the speed, the driver, is all something we cannot and will not control. No one will invent a time machine. If it were to happen, that event would be in the Book. It is not.

So, there is a struggle, because one child might have seen the Father point at the cow and then see it in passing while another child did not hear or see the Father pointing... and missed it.

Is it the second child's fault?

No.

Had the Father pointed and spoken to both children, both would know... but He doesn't always do that.

Why?

I could not tell you, but I do find it frustrating. I could speculate, like most do...

"He loves me more."

"I am just smarter."

"I was the one looking at Him."

Yet, none of these are necessarily true. It is speculation... unless the Father says otherwise.

One sees

Another is blind.

On one hand (the only hand that matters), God has determined this difference. He gives eyes to one, blindness to another.

He does not often say why.

Oh, but He did for the man born blind ...

John 9:1-3

1] As he went along, he saw a man blind from birth.

2] His disciples asked him, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?”

3] “Neither this man nor his parents sinned,” said Jesus, “but this happened so that the works of God might be displayed in him.

Does this bother you?

If it does, then you are yet unable to see that God is good. Seeking Him, connecting to Him, will change that. Ah, but you won't do that unless He "ordained" it.

THAT is from HIS perspective. Your perspective looks a whole lot different.

Maybe you just don't trust me and thus ignore what I say?

Maybe you saw a video with wonderful production that said otherwise?

Maybe you believe that God showed you something different?

Maybe you believe you are in greater control over what you think, believe, and choose?

Maybe, the problem is that you just can't see from HIS perspective?

Well, if you could, then even if you were wrong in your opinion, you would be confident that God wanted you to be deceived, for now. You would also be sure that those who believe the opposite idea are only standing on that error because it serves God's purpose, for now.

Either way, the truth of the argument doesn't even matter at all!

What is important, IS the connection to God... and the trust that comes with it.

Debate away, but don't forget why there is a truth to begin with...
