Drop the F-Bomb

Back in 1984, right after I had a vision of Jesus Christ, I went through a three-month period where God graciously answered many questions by giving me chapter and verse.

I didn't know the Bible. Prior to that revelation, I like most people, never really read it. Oh, I had been told of passages, but to find any specific passage I had no idea where to look.

Chapter and verse, this is just getting a book name, the chapter of the book, and a verse number.

Consider then, someone can tell you 2 Timothy 2:2...

2 Timothy 2:2

[2] Preach the Word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage--with great patience and careful instruction.

...and this is what you will find if you look it up.

The chapter and verses were added to the original scripture in order to help each other reference the information in the Book. They have been there for a very, very, long time.

So, for someone who is barely familiar with the book, I had to gain a wee bit of knowledge in how to look up a book, chapter and verse. Once I did, anyone who knew the book could point me to a passage by just that information above.

So, here I was, ignorant of what was really in that book, sitting before God and hearing in my mind, and heart, a chapter and verse.

You must understand that I didn't even know the names of the books, how many chapters nor how many verses the chapters had. If you guessed at a name of a book, pulled out of thin air a number for a chapter and picked another random number...well, the odds of getting a real message out of a verse would be ridiculous, small, or non-existent.

"Look up Stephen chapter 48, verse 16..."

You know what an ignorant young believer would find?

Nothing, because it just doesn't exist.

Consider then, the astronomical odds of asking a specific question and getting a valid book title, valid chapter in that book and an actual verse by the number...leading to a passage that actually answers your question!

Do you think that the little voice in your head might actually be who it claims to be?

Yeah, now add to that the fact that this scenario happened many times in a three-month period.

Crazy?

Demonic?

Or God?

Crazy would be claiming it happened when it didn't. We call that delusion. If it were delusion, it would show in other areas..."I'm Batman!"

But no, I've never claimed to be Batman.

If it were demonic, the message given would draw me away from God, not closer to Him.

So, for me, God it is.

Now, stating all that for reference...one of these times and questions was about using swear words...particularly the F-Bomb.

"Lord, is it OK to swear?"

I really wanted to know. Just after my vision, my language and many actions were no different, though others now just seemed cringe worthy...like lying and evil thoughts toward others. Dropping F-Bombs just didn't seem like a big deal.

"2 Timothy 2:16"

That's what I heard, so I looked it up.

[16] But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness.

Yes, I only had a King James Bible at the time.

But tell me, do you think considering the odds of "accidently" getting a response so clear was it demonic, crazy, or happenstance?

Well, even then, I didn't stupidly consider it so. I knew it was Him.

So, on the question of bad language I think I can answer very plainly...God does not like the F-Bomb.

So, my encouragement?

As a believer, you really should drop the use of these words.

If you still doubt me as a valid source of God's heart...

Ask Him yourself.

Ah, but if you even looked at the beginning of what I wrote here...you are now accountable.

Disregard at your own peril.

Unless you really want to be disciplined.

He has His own bombs you know...

They are much more effective.
