It is a Given
If salvation is a gift graciously given by God through faith, then why do you believe that the faith God wants from us is something that you will, muster, or originate?
If He is waiting on you to "believe" then how is salvation a gift? How is grace involved?
If God gave everyone the grace to be saved, but they must "believe" to receive it, then God is expecting a work or effort. If so, it is no longer grace at all. How different is that from being good enough by something you do?
It is not.
Faith is given by grace. It is not decided upon, figured out, or willed. It is a gift given to those who believe because of it.
If you "believe" otherwise, do you really trust in God at all?
The "Righteous" are those chosen by God and graciously given the faith to believe that they have done nothing to earn acceptance by God but are rather accepted by God because of the finished work of Jesus Christ.
These are the few, the not proud, the Christians.
