Serious Business

Romans 3:19-20

[19] Now we know that whatever the law says, it says to those who are under the law, so that every mouth may be silenced and the whole world held accountable to God.

[20] Therefore no one will be declared righteous in his sight by observing the law; rather, through the law we become conscious of sin.

Sin IS the knowledge of good and evil, or the distance between man and God.

The Law is the written form of the knowledge of good and evil...is it not?

Think about it. If you choose to try to become like God, in control, in charge, responsible for YOUR destiny, then the Law shows you that you stink at it.

Super stinky.

The Law shows your inability and expresses the vast distance between you and God, so you become conscious of how poorly you are "like" God.

Thus, the obvious need for a savior.

Doesn't this open your eyes on all the terrible teaching of what we "must" do to be accepted by God?

Paul in this chapter is addressing circumcision, but it also works for ANY action churches and bad teachers have said you need to do to be saved.

Paul addresses them strongly later..."let them be eternally cursed!"

Yeah, it is THAT serious.
