Something to Think About
If you were to say that the spirit of the author lives in that character, it would mean that the author writes his heart and soul into it. That character would, within the story, represent the author in a unique way. That character would act like the author would. He would feel like the author would. He would do things the author would...or is.
Seriously, the whole book and every character is from the mind and heart of the author, but that one character represents the author's real heart.
Any author can do this, and many have.
What about THE Author?
Do you think Jesus is just like us? He is the Son of God. The Avatar of The Author. The exact representation.
Hebrews 1:3
The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven.
John 3:34
For the one whom God has sent speaks the words of God, for God gives the Spirit without limit.
Yes, Jesus IS God, who IS. How can this be?
Any author can do it...in HIS story.
Why?
Well, because He wants to. This is a problem for the characters, especially those characters who can SEE the Author at all.
The Author is the ONLY one who can make a character see. The characters are not autonomous, nor are they free to do as they will. They are characters OF the Author they all act in accordance with the will of that Author. Their creation and purpose is solely at the discretion and choice of the Author.
The Author is not evil for creating an evil character. George Lucas was not evil for destroying an entire planet through one of his characters...was he?
No.
So, why would God be not good because He created and has written Satan and his entire existence?
"That's different! We are real! They are characters in a story!!"
Really? What do you think we really are? Do you really think God just stirred the pot and looked at the result ahead of time?
That IS the way most "believers" think of how God is in control.
What author writes a story that writes itself? Did He create a heavenly AI? Did He then lose control of it? Did He then have to create Himself as a character to try to save a few?
Does this sound at all like the Biblical description of God? Do you believe the Bible at all?
This is why you avoid many passages. It is fear.
Yet, why are you afraid? Do you not realize the value in understanding your reality? Knowing who you are? What you are?
Like Jesus, who was fully imbedded with the Heart, the Spirit, of THE Author, so are the few characters the Author chooses to inject with a measure of Himself.
Ephesians 4:7
But to each one of us grace has been given as Christ apportioned it.
Do you not realize yet that the only reason you see or understand God is all is due to a measure of grace given through faith? That the measure you have been given WILL in fact grow as God wills it. You just respond as you were created to, written to.
Those who do not see, will struggle with trying to become like God. To fight themselves in a constant losing battle to be better. Their destiny is the Lake of Fire...the second death, the end, no more story.
This is what is written. Ah, but those who don't like the idea of not being in control despise it deep down. Satan does. This is his rebellion. To take control, to become like God. To raise himself up by his own bootstraps.
You can do it!
The mantra that mankind has been chanting to themselves since the Tower of Babel.
"So, what is the value in accepting that I am just a character?"
If you look at the parable of the Talents and realize that the Talent doesn't represent "abilities", but instead represents that measure of grace, the measure of faith that is given, it makes more sense.
For the fourth option, the one nobody talks about...putting the money on deposit for the bankers to make it grow with some little bit of interest.
What ability do you have that you can give to someone else, do nothing, and have it given back to you with a wee bit of growth?
None.
But if you take a tiny measure of faith, given by God's grace, to a local church and just sit there...you will get that faith back with a wee bit of interest...tiny growth.
"What about the 10 and 5 talents given? How did they grow those talents?"
I am glad you asked! If you are given that grace it begins with a small light going off in your heart..."It's True! Jesus is God!"
You cannot really define it; you just KNOW it!
If you don't bury it, by doing nothing, and just moving along in your life but go to a local church, you will see that light grow. Your understanding because of simple preaching and teaching will make your connection to God grow closer.
The larger gifts, or measures, of faith will do something more...they will pursue Him. Some will pick up Bibles and begin to look for more. They will start to see God in various parts of their life. Others, the absolute loons, will throw away everything to seek that deeper connection. They will do crazy things without apparent concern for family, friends and colleagues to gain better access to the Author. It doesn't mean they will pursue a church ministry, but they will be obnoxious about sharing what they know.
It is excitement.
Not pride. For understanding that the Measure was given not because of work, effort, or desire, but simply because The Author chose to do so...because He likes to make more out of pathetic.
More.
Characters that are imbued with the Heart of the Author. A measure of His Spirit, that He will make grow, as He alone has written the path and purpose for each.
We are His work.
He does great work.
He does not fail.
This takes away the struggle to become like God. To put aside the knowledge of Good and Evil, the struggle between understanding the perfectness of God compared to our pathetic-ness of not being God.
Does this mean it is OK to sin?
No. What it does mean is that you will sin as you don't trust God. As that faith measure given grows, you will naturally obey God as you KNOW that His way is the best!
So, you sin because your faith is weak. To stop sinning, no matter what it is or how evil it is, the ONLY way to defeat it is to KNOW GOD MORE.
To know Him better.
Make that talent grow.
Not just with interest, but with more.
Start your own business.
Grow that faith.
Seek God and His Kingdom.
Romans 5:1
1) Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we a have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,
2) through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we boast in the hope of the glory of God.
3) Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance;
4) perseverance, character; and character, hope.
5) And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.
Struggling with sin, guilt and shame? Seek God. Don't hide like Adam and Eve. Don't create some ridiculous lie to just cover it up like a fig leaf. Go to Him in complete nakedness and just see what He does. If you are HIS work, not your own. If He IS the Author and you are His character. Then why would you hide from Him?
You cannot hide from THE Author.
No one ever could.
Don't blame Him.
Sure, He wrote you as you are, but if you are going to grow into more, then you are going to have to SEE His goodness even in the evil you struggle with.
Trust in God IS trusting in EVERYTHING He does.
Matthew 25:29
For whoever has will be given more, and they will have an abundance. Whoever does not have, even what they have will be taken from them.
Don't bury it.
Look at Him directly in the face.
Boldy.
You are not going to make Him flinch.
He knows you are coming.
He wrote you to do so.
This IS freedom.
