The Author With ALL Authority

If God is Really Sovereign...

I was once told by a christian during a debate over God's absolute control, "we are not robots".

We are not robots, because robots have more freedom than we do!

A robot does what it is programmed to do. Yet it can malfunction on it's own. Programming can fail. Machine parts can malfunction. If any of these things happen, the robot begins to do things it was never designed, created, and programmed to do.

These errors in creation only happen because the robots creator is limited. As a man, we cannot perfectly make machine parts that never fail. We cannot write perfect code. We cannot control the environment that the robot is functioning in. We cannot control the robot once we do our limited creative actions.

God is not limited... like us.

He is outside and above time. He doesn't change. He doesnt just know the future, He IS the future.

Even a man who knew the future and lived forever could create a robot and see into the future and see what fails and what doesn't. That man could keep trying until he gets it right. Still, unless he can control the elements, atoms and structure of reality, the machine could still fail. Even with an eternity to try, try and try again... a man cannot be as perfect as God.

God doesn't travel through time.

He IS time.

He is the Word. The code all reality is built on. He is the Author of it all.

Do you really think He lost control of it to one of His creations?

Oh, that has happened with robots already, but as I show above... man cannot be like God.

God cannot lose control of His creations any more than an author can lose control of his characters.

You could say that a human author can lose control over his story by other people. It does happen. Film makers ruin author's stories all the time.

Who could possibly take over God's story and change anything... since everything in all reality other than Him is made and has its existance only by Him?

Colossians 1:16

[16] For by him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him.

Acts 17:28

[28]`For in him we live and move and have our being.' As some of your own poets have said, `We are his offspring.'

He, unlike all men, has NO equal.

None!

Isn't that what scripture says?

So, why do you oppose God's absolute control?

Why do you get angry, afraid, or frustrated?

Why do you avoid the questions, thoughts, and scriptures?

Because you want to be like God.

"Biblical Definition Of Pride

Pride is the root of many of the problems that we face. It is, 'self-respect or improper and excessive self-esteem known as conceit or arrogance (gotquestions.org).' Pride can be defined as elevating one`s opinions and thoughts above God`s authoritative Word."

You see to believe in free will or any similar theology you must limit God who as scripture states is not limited. You either ignore scriptures or incorrectly apply the easy path... "that's just a metophor"

In either case, you dismiss the authority of God's word... it is overshadowed by your own. You trust your own "interpretation" or that of another man who offers you a more comfortable idea.

Since God's plan of salvation is by faith alone and faith being trust in HIM, then ANY action you believe that you can do or think to accomplish anything eternal is in direct opposition to that faith!

You trust in you... or other men.

Robots can't trust anything.

So why "characters" and not robots?

Well, even a perfectly made robot doesn't trust. Trust is relational. A character in a story can trust. A character in a story can "relate" to their author (Don Quixote, Deadpool).

Of course you could say that a character isn't real...

Have you considered how important a character can be to their human author? How "real" they can be to them on a deeply personal level?

Now, consider our Author...

For a Being that can create an entire reality with His own Word... with Himself. A Being outside and above both time and space. A Being that doesn't change and has absolutely NO limits... well, can THIS Author do something special with His characters... like make them real, and eternal?

Yes, yes He can. This is in fact, according to scripture, what He is doing.

Your faith in Him is the only thing that shows if you are more than a robot, or NPC. He either gives it to you... or not.

If you have it, appreciate it. Know that you did nothing to obtain it, you didn't choose it, it was flat out given to you. You are a branch snatched from the fire, nothing more... until He finishes this story.

Jude 1:22-23

[21]Keep yourselves in God's love as you wait for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to bring you to eternal life.

[22]Be merciful to those who doubt;

[23]snatch others from the fire and save them; to others show mercy, mixed with fear--hating even the clothing stained by corrupted flesh.

If you don't have it, you will keep trusting in your own effort, and the efforts of other men... and burn.

This is what the Authorative Word of God says.

There is no if... He IS Sovereign.

He is the Author with all Authority.
