John 18:38

“What is truth?” retorted Pilate. With this he went out again to the Jews gathered there and said, “I find no basis for a charge against him.

Truth, Like God... IS.

Basically, IT IS What IT IS.

Yes, God IS truth.

Truth is a straight line. Since we are time based, progressive thinking beings we see truth as we face it. Like riding in a car, we see what is outside the window only as we are there and then pass it.

It is how we walk through time as we age. When we are a baby, the truth of things progresses along as we discover, or see, things and try to understand them. "Oh, those are my toes!"

Of course, when a baby sees his toes for the first time, his reference to understand them, what they really are, what they will do, and WHO in fact made them, are not even thoughts or questions yet. The baby just pokes and plays with them knowing only that he also feels something as he does.

We learn truth as we see it.

We can see it wrong too. Flat earth? Our perspective matters. When mankind was younger, they looked at the world, and it seemed the sun revolved around it. That was true, but not. Of course, as they learned, or began to see the bigger picture, that sun moving in the sky only seemed to be so because the massive ball we are standing on is moving around it, and turning as it does so.

"Oh, look, there are cows in that field!"

We see truth but then must understand it and that understanding may not make any sense until we see MORE truth... which we can't see yet, because we are not there.

"No, not cows, it is a sheep farm. There is the sign."

I find it strange though, how truth is actually revealed by this vehicle called Faith. Biblically, and yes, it is biblical, Faith is a gift from God. It is in fact a spiritual thing, a Holy Spiritual thing.

Sure, there is much truth around us, we do have toes and can actually see them, and as we age, see how they are used. However, to see WHO made them, takes something more... a truth that can only be seen through Spiritual Eyes.

Faith is sight.

When faced with a dilemma, a truth we see that doesn't fit what we have already seen, we have to find out if we have misunderstood what we have seen or are completely misunderstanding the truth we now see.

Yes, it makes your head hurt...and why I am writing at 4am instead of sleeping like I should be.

You see, going through my blog to clean it up, I have been reminded of past posts and the disagreements that arose from Facebook "friends".

What I post is truth, along with my limited understanding of it. I have always posted with the hope of creating dialogue, because I believe the Faith given us is limited on purpose. Limited by God, so we need each other.

The Church.

One of the biggest purposes for the Church is for all those who see, to share what they see and understand so we can collectively reach a bigger, clearer, picture or understanding of the God we love.

Unfortunately, because of pride and blindness, this "discussion" is often terribly fruitless and painful.

Blindness is an inability to see the truth. Since Faith is the eyes to see, then blindness is in fact a lack of Faith. It is a gift that wasn't given.

If that is the case, then there is no point in arguing with someone who is blind.

"Dude, there is a ditch right in front of you!"

"No, there is not!"

The end result should bring truth to the forefront, but then Pride gets involved. Pride makes the blind one refuse to "see" even when they see, because they don't want to be wrong. This happens more when the one that points out the truth is "lesser" than they are.

This is a sad truth, but a truth, nonetheless.

So, in these discussions, I post a biblical truth. Others, responded with an opposing view. This is fine, and what I hope for. If they can prove me wrong, I win truth. If I prove them wrong, they win truth. Yet, it doesn't work that way.

First off, there have to be some already established truths. God IS. If they don't believe in God, they will never get past the field with the cows. They won't even acknowledge it.

Second, is the Bible God's Word? If they are iffy here, find it fluid, or allegorical, then we have a truth problem... a misunderstanding, not blind, but vision so bad as to be "legally" blind.

The third truth is much more difficult. They believe in God, and believe the Bible is His Word, but hold hard to a more comfortable message from a well-known teacher that blatantly disagrees with a scriptural truth.

I am trying to understand this... Truth, and why I am awake when I should not be.

I know these people believe in Jesus and the Scriptures, but when presented with a single passage of scripture that absolutely refutes a tightly held doctrine... they buckle.

If just ONE scripture opposes a doctrine, that doctrine is false!

This IS TRUE, both logically, and Spiritually.

There are people who don't believe in God. I find this interesting, since man started with an obvious awareness of God's existence... Adam and Eve. Once kicked out of the garden, their progeny quickly started to ignore the obvious and even make up lies of other Gods!

Why?

This one just fascinates me. With Faith being sight of Spiritual matters, and mankind rejecting faith or trust in God, then they of course would no longer see truth, but need to come up with lies in order to try to understand what they do see.

God did not give the eyes to see or ears to hear.

It is pointless to argue with blind people, especially if they really don't want to see.

It is like walking around with the truth of who Jesus is. I could stop a man on the street and just tell him, but that isn't very effective. It seems it would be better to have the eyes to see when a blind man is being prepared to "see" by God the Father. Then I would just be assisting Him in HIS work.

Yet, I don't "see" that!

Sure, I could... If He wanted me to.

So, instead, we walk along side of the blind around us speaking of God whenever we have an appropriate opportunity. We do so because we want them to see. We like the difference since we now see and simply just want to share it.

Sharing is caring.

We do it because we care. We care about them and we care about God.

Unless we believe the lie that we earned our eyes to see. Pride is the obvious sign that this is so. We want to win the argument, not find truth.

There is always One truth, and an infinite number of lies. We should all be seeking God in a deeper way. When we do, He reveals Himself in a deeper way... giving us greater faith, a greater clarity to see the truth.

I share, because I care. It would be nice though, to have that reciprocally thrown back at me instead of indifference, arrogance, pride and meanness, because they cling to a comfortable lie.

Ah, but the truth is, if God wanted it to be otherwise... It would be.

I should go back to bed now...
